Flagler Village - The new and improved downtown FTL.

I lived smack in the middle of Flagler Village for about 2 years until this past February and loved watching and being a part of this new, exciting district taking shape. If you live in the Fort Lauderdale area and have never been here or it's been awhile, you should check it out. If you are thinking about moving to the area and want something a bit urban, fun, young, energetic, and in the middle of a major shift, then you should book your flight and check it out. It's not Brooklyn but FTL ain't no NYC. It's right for the size of the city and it's still young.

Flagler Village has it's shiny new buildings, streets, restaurants, etc. and it's dirty, falling apart, dangerous looking areas too. The arts community has gone through several phases of growth and now has a few established areas of activity including the elder FAT Village district and the newer MASS arts district. With the latest addition of the Edge and Manor apartment complexes, I think we've hit a critical mass point where there are enough new inhabitants to start attracting new businesses to serve them.

Below is a map showing Flagler Village and all the recent and future developments that I know about. Dark Blue - built in the past 10 years; Pink is under construction; Light Blue is planned; Green are parks; Orange are special districts; and the Wave streetcar route is light green.
